SGAA Dual Decks, Snellville, GA 6/27/2011 – What an event! For the last 5 days, the hockey at SGAA Dual Decks was off the charts, with so many games going right down to the wire, and some of the best hockey saved for the playoff games. The atmosphere off the rink was sensational, with many of the players sticking around to take part in many of the activities we had, including the Xbox Lounge, Knee Hockey Competitions, and Shooting Gallery.
Recapping some of the highlights of the 2011 2Hot4Ice National Games….
In the 8U Division, the Dreamsports Dragons outlasted the Richmond Rattlers in the Championship to take home the Gold. This was a great game, and was exciting to watch the little guys really battle hard. The PBC Predators took home the Bronze.
In the 10U D1 Division, the Dreamsports Dragons Red were the dominant team, cruising through the round robin play, and into the Championship against the PTC Jets. While the Jets put up a good fight, the Dragons were just too much to handle, and took home the Gold. The Maniacs, led by their fearless coach, took home the Bronze. In the 10U D2 Division, TC 2000 was crowned the champ, finishing off a depleted, yet feisty, Dry Ice team. The Bruise Brothers took home the Bronze.
The 12U D1 Division was probably one of our most competitive divisions. Just about every game was a one goal game. In a thrilling final that had the arena buzzing, the Tour Scorpions took home the Gold, defeating the Savannah Sting. Prior to the start of the game, the crowd was treated to an unbelievable rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, sung by Christiana Fecteau.The 12U D2 Division was buzzing throughout, with the Turks and Caicos Islanders and their fans providing a lot of energy. The PTC Jets outlasted the Raleigh Speed in the Championship to take the Gold, while the Maniacs took the Bronze.
In the 14U D1 Division, the Mission Mafia were a force to be reckoned with. Cruising through to the Championship game, the Mafia looked unbeatable in their contest against the PTC Jets, taking home the Gold. The local Atlanta Cobras team took the Bronze. In the 14U D2 Division, the Bruise Brothers played a solid team game in the Championship game, shutting out the Raleigh Speed to take the Gold, while the Savannah Sting took the Bronze.
In what was probably one of the most thrilling games of the entire week, the PTC Jets got a late goal, and took home the Gold in the 16U D1 Championship. This division had a lot of skilled teams, and the play was evident of that. The Mission Mafia 95’s took home the Bronze. In the 16U D2, the Brighthouse Hammerheads outlasted the PTC Jets, and captured the Gold, while the Milton Eagles took home the Bronze.
The Adult Division had some high-powered teams competing for the Gold, and there were some thrilling finishes in the semifinal games. In an all Playmaker Final, the Playmaker Screaming Eagles outlasted the Playmaker Black to take home the Gold, while Team Moneyshot captured the Bronze.
Many of the industry’s biggest names were on hand, including Reebok-CCM, Combat Hockey, Blade Shark, PHAT TAPE, and Flexbandz. Reebok sponsored the Reebok Skills Competition which was held in each division. The Skills Competition featured the Fastest Skater, Shooting Accuracy, Breakaway Challenge, and Hardest Shot competitions. This provided an electric atmosphere with the fans having the opportunity to see some of the high end skill that was on display.
The folks at SGAA were a tremendous host, and we look forward to coming back to Snellville in 2012. We would like to thank all of the players, coaches, team managers, and parents for supporting our 2011 National Games. We had a great time, and hope that you did too!
